COURSE INFORMATION

During this course you will gain knowledge and understanding in:

• The safety and financial reasons for using locators

• Theory work which covers the benefits of the system and the limitations of the CAT and Genny technology

• HSE Video – Alive or dead

• Practical work which includes hands on locating using receiver, transmitter and accessories

• Application and techniques, general care and maintenance of equipment as well as questions / answers

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is for new roads and street work operatives who locate underground apparatus, set up equipment for works on highways and carry out excavation, backfill and reinstatement.

A good understanding of spoken and written English.

ASSESSMENT

A mixture of classroom based teaching and group exercises with continuous oral and practical assessments.

CERTIFICATION

The Street Works Qualifications Register Card valid for 5 years.
